More About DJ Smith

Arizona has always been home. I was born in Scottsdale and began my career in real estate in 1987 as a Property Manager for the Superior Court in Scottsdale. In 1989, I moved to the Verde Valley, where I built my home, raised my family, and became deeply rooted in the community. I stepped away from my career for a number of years to devote my time to raising my children, spending plenty of those years as a soccer mom and PTA mom. Once my kids were grown and I became an empty nester, I knew it was time to get back to work—and back to real estate.

I restarted my real estate career in 2012, received two Quality Service Awards in my first few years, and became a top producer in 2019. But what has kept me passionate about this work isn't the awards—it's this place. I believe buying or selling a home should feel personal, informed, and as stress-free as possible. I work with buyers and sellers throughout the Verde Valley, including Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, Cornville, and Sedona, helping my clients navigate the process from start to finish.

I love helping people discover everything that makes the Verde Valley such a wonderful place to call home. We have a little bit of everything here: hiking and mountain biking, camping and stargazing, incredible sunrises and sunsets, the Verde River for kayaking and paddleboarding, and fascinating Native American and Arizona history. Our communities—including Jerome and Clarkdale—each have their own character, and we're home to Arizona's third designated AVA and several local wineries. Add in great restaurants and easy access to shopping in Prescott and Flagstaff, and there's always something new to explore.

I've lived here for more than three decades, and I still love every moment of it. My next favorite place is Kauai, but the Verde Valley will always be home. And if you ever want to know my favorite thing to eat? Real Sonoran Mexican food. I could eat it every day.
